SEOUL, March 2 Asia Pulse - Korea's annual beef imports topped 1 trillion won (US$837 million) for the first time last year, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy said.
The country bought a total of $947 million worth of beef from overseas last year, up a sharp 70.6 per cent from $555 million in 2001.
When converted into Korean won using the average exchange rate, last year's figure amounts to 1.18 trillion won.
