SEOUL, March 3 Asia Pulse - The amount of illegal copies of world-famous brand products discovered last year was the largest in recent years, the Korea Customs Service said Monday.

The customs office said it found bogus goods worth 249.2 billion won (US$209 million) being taken in or out of the country, up 3.2 per cent from the previous year. The number of instances increased from 323 in 2001 to 347 in 2002.

By product, wristwatches were the most common with 172.9 billion won worth of illegally copied products, followed by shoes with 28 billion won, handbags and leather products with 26.9 billion won, clothes with 9.4 billion won and viagra pills with 3.8 ...
