SEOUL, March 3 Asia Pulse - Although the economy is slowing down more than expected, the government will not employ domestic consumption promotion measures such as cutting special excise taxes on automobiles and other major industrial products, Deputy Prime Minister Kim Jin-pyo said.
Instead, the government will make intensive investments in social overhead capital projects and advance other government expenditures to prop up the economy.
"We're not yet thinking of such 'artificial boosting measures' as cutting special excise taxes on industrial products," Kim said in an exclusive interview with the Yonhap News Agency on Sunday.
