TAIPEI, March 3 Asia Pulse - Taiwan's economy will improve this year, although its index of leading economic indicators flashed a yellow-blue light for January, a member of the Council for Economic Planning and Development (CEPD) said.
Speaking in an interview with the Broadcasting Corporation of China, Lee Kao-chao said Taiwan's exports, industrial production, employment and the stock market will rise after uncertainties over a looming war between the United States and Iraq are dismissed.
The domestic economy will perform better and recover gradually this year, despite the fact that the overall environment will remain lackluster, he added, explaining that the yellow-blue light in January was a result of a bearish financial sector, mainly in the volatile bourse.
