At least 14 people were killed and scores injured when a train carrying tourists to Taiwan's scenic Mount Ali, or Alishan, derailed and rolled over.
Authorities are still compiling the number of casulties but at least 40 people have been injured in the accident, Taiwan Forestry Bureau officials said Saturday.
Local television was reporting Saturday that some 15 people were killed, some dying in hospital.
Adding to the chaos, a helicopter crash-landed while airlifting injured passengers to hospitals in neigboring Kaohsiung County but all 15 people on board were unhurt, the defense ministry said.
