That goal gave Liverpool a 2-1 victory over their bitter rivals Manchester United and the chance for the then Anfield manager Bob Paisley to walk the 39 steps at Wembley and hold aloft the League Cup in his final season in charge.
Paisley wasn't one for the limelight but the players, led by captain Graeme Souness, insisted that he pick the trophy up.
