DAVID Trimble today warned his party will resign if the Government attempts to restore the Executive without Ulster Unionist consent.
And he spelt out his demands to the IRA: there must be "proper and open" decommissioning followed by a statement that the 'war is over' and will never start again.
Mr Trimble was speaking as security sources on both sides of the border claimed the IRA was on the verge of making "a major gesture" - significantly, with hardliners in South Armagh said to be on board.
Mr Trimble, meanwhile, told delegates: "The IRA does have to go away," he told the annual meeting of his party's ruling council in Belfast.
