AS IRAQ was today expected to destroy missiles, a 55-year-old Ulsterman said he is prepared to lay himself down as a human shield against American planes bombing the country
Merv Baxter, from Cookstown, Tyrone is prepared to die and has spoken to his family about the possibility that he might not be coming home.
Mr Baxter, who lives in New South Wales in Australia, is to join a US Christian group who will live in Iraqi hospitals and schools during the US bombing raids.
He is to travel to Ireland on March 18 to say goodbye to his family before joining the other members of "Become The Change", who will meet in London.
"I probably won't get to Iraq until late March. I'm going to see my mum before I go," he said.
