Unless Mike Morgan finds a job or Dennis Cook catches on somewhere, Todd Zeile will be the big leagues' most-traveled player this season.

Zeile is on his 10th team, the Yankees, but he's hardly in unfamiliar territory. He's back in New York (he played two seasons for the Mets); he'll be backing up good buddy and fellow ex-Met Robin Ventura; and he'll be reunited with Joe Torre, Zeile's manager for part of his six seasons with the Cardinals.

Since being traded from St. Louis in 1995, Zeile hasn't been with the same team for more than two fall seasons.

Zeile isn't the only player with wandering feet. Morgan, a righthanded pitcher, has been on 12 teams in 22 seasons, and Cook, a lefthanded reliever and one of Zeile's teammates on the Mets, could run his list to 10 by signing with a new team. Among other players on the frequent-flier list, catcher Jorge Fabregas has the best shot at matching Morgan. Fabregas is on his ninth team--the Devil Rays--and he won't turn 33 until March 13.

This season: Will back up Ventura at third, Jason Giambi at first and Nick Johnson at DH.
