It's odd that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is announcing college hoops--and has reclaimed the title of Tallest Network Analyst from Bill Walton, effective with N.C. State-Duke last Saturday on CBS--just now.
Kareem's Hall of Fame career ended in 1989, and he never was considered a great communicator. "I didn't have much to say as a player. I just wanted to play and go home," explains Abdul-Jabbar, 55. And it has been a decade since he donned a headset, for ESPN's late-late Big Mondays; Kareem was prone to going mute for three or four possessions, and Mr. Skyhook got the hook after one season.
