Collection, in general, is a bad word. It means that a good relationship has turned sour. That somebody didn't comply with his end of the bargain, and worse, that all amicable ways to solve the problem have been exhausted. When I analyze a collection case with my clients, the feeling is very similar to a memorial service, with many good words about the past, and gloom about the end. The ambiance is worse with international collections because the end of relationships sometimes resembles a magicians vanishing act.
