Self-sampling polls can be wildly unreliable, of course. And America should be utterly indifferent to international opinion when acting in our authentic national interest. But it is indisputable that the Bush administration's perverse determination to wage an unnecessary war on Iraq has engendered hostility toward the U.S. from otherwise friendly nations.
