As Mr. Jasper has clearly indicated in both his recent article and his response to Ray Jensen, his purpose was not to review or endorse all of the policies and programs of Peru's former president, Alberto Fujimori ("Pulling the Plug on Fujimori," December 30th issue; "More on Fujimori," January 27th). Jasper did help us to see that no country, no individual, is outside the interests of those that would run the world.
Fujimori was of particular concern because he came from nowhere, with no debts to anyone, and implemented diverse programs across a wide spectrum to end four-digit inflation, destroy two well-entrenched terrorist groups, slash the size and scope of government, restore the inflow of foreign investment, settle two border disputes, reduce the production of coca, and stop the flow of people from the mountains to the cities.
