The economy and its consequences on the world of work, got mentioned at the just concluded conference of the Nigeria Labour Congress held in Abuja.

NLC President, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, spoke on labour's view of how government should handle the debt burden even as he identified the challenges posed to workers by globalization.

Comrade Oshiomhole told the audience including President Olusegun Obasanjo that "in the last two decades, successive governments have been spending a disproportionate percentage of foreign earnings to servicing debt."
