King-makers in the North should not waste material and emotional resources on the Buhari project because it is an exercise in futility.

OVER the years, the Northern region of our country has,justifiably, acquired the reputation of political astuteness. It is held that when it comes to political calculation, the North (by which it is actually meant the Hausa-Fulanis) is the master of the game. In the past, the rest of the country will wait to see what political move the North will make before taking a cue. In fact, the choice for the nation's president was usually made by a faceless but powerful cabal known as "Kaduna Mafia" or Northern Elders". This reputation has no doubt led to pride on the path of the North. And since God delights in bringing the proud low, it is obvious to those who see things from the spiritual angle that the recent decision by the North "to take back the power which they gave to the South on a platter of gold", by fielding former Head of State, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari on the platform of the ANPP, is a …
