Clement and Tohme from Lebanon rallied to emerge champions in open pairs championship of the annual Sharjah Bridge Festival held at the Sofitel City Centre Hotel, Dubai.

After a gruelling three-day session, the Lebanese duo finished with scores of 60.89. They upstaged the leaders and local heroes Dr Abhay Nigam and Dr B.P. Srivatsan from the UAE, who had to settle for 59.41.

The champions, holding the 12th position with 57.14 per cent at the end of the first day, made a remarkable recovery as they leap-frogged to sixth with 60.64 per cent at the end of the second day. On the final day they dashed to …
