Elsewhere in this issue, Tom Lyle and I discuss some really sublime Bach playing by the late Glenn Gould, whose two versions of the Goldberg Variations are indispensable for any lover of classical music. This new release, however, which brings together his incomplete versions of The Art of the Fugue, is more of a guilty pleasure than something indispensable; still, it is great fun, and if you are a Gould fan or a Bach fan (preferably both), this is a CD you will not want to do without.
