For years, I was a big fan of Julian Hirsch's product reviews in Stereo Review magazine. I thought he was honest and competent, and he probably helped more audio enthusiasts make intelligent shopping decisions than any other audio writer in the business.
One problem I had with his material, however, involved his speaker reviews. He never printed the curves he ran on the speakers he tested, and instead described them in general and sometimes vague terms. I told myself that if I ever started to review speakers I would go him one better and publish curves. At least I told myself that until it came time to actually write some reviews.
