Russia's Putin, envoy discuss St Petersburg ring road project.

Moscow, 9 January: The Russian government has decided to allocate an additional 600m dollars to complete the construction of a ring road around St Petersburg as well as development works.

Viktor Cherkesov, presidential envoy to the Northwestern Federal District, will control the use of funds along with project implementation, Putin said during a meeting with Cherkesov today.

Putin emphasized that the road construction is important for the whole northwestern region, not just for St Petersburg. Obviously, if no energetic measures are taken, the issue will stall, he said...
