In response to a Department of Education directive, the University of Texas at Austin will change its policy on responding to sexual harassment complaints. Administrators will get training on handling them and publicize its procedures more widely, and investigate all complaints, not just those it considers "formal."

The change is in response to a student's complaint about music professors making sexual jokes and touching her inappropriately, and school officials dragging their feet in response to her charges, according to The Chronicle of Higher Education on January 10, 2003.
