The ANC and the IFP in KwaZulu-Natal emerged from their dramatic stand-off over parliamentary defection laws on Wednesday claiming victory over each other, but no closer to conciliation. Both parties agreed that they needed to work on mending their relationship that has been strained by squabbles over the site of the provincial capital, provincial cabinet reshuffles and now the floor-crossing saga.
