As a result of the increase in numbers of teams in the MTN Basketball League from 12 to 17, the Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) has decided to form two divisions.

"Five new teams have registered so far and we expect some more to do so. These teams usually find it hard to compete with the older clubs so we are forming a division II for them," FUBA General Secretary Peninah Kabenge told The Monitor yesterday.

Division I will be made up of eight teams. Kabenge said these will be the teams that finished in the top eight last season.
