Sydney, Feb 14 NZPA - A buoyant Foodland today said it thought it unlikely United States discount giant Costco would set up in New Zealand.

Foodland, which announced sales for its New Zealand supermarket division had doubled to $NZ954 million in the December quarter, said Costco's sheer size would probably rule it out.

``I would have thought it highly unlikely that Costco would consider investing at the moment in a market such as New Zealand,'' Foodland managing director Trevor Coates told a press conference from Perth.
