16 suspects, including a probation officer, accused of being sect members

Twenty three more suspected Mungiki members were yesterday charged with offences linked to the illegal sect in various parts of the country.

At the Makadara court in Nairobi, seven suspects denied charges of preparing to commit felonies by having offensive weapons, including clubs and machettes.

Senior Principal Magistrate Charles Rinjeu ordered them to be remanded at Kamiti Maximum Prison until February 26, when their case will be heard.
