Colombia: Government vows to guarantee safety of multinational oil firms.

The government has renewed its commitment to double security measures protecting the infrastructure of multinational oil companies from guerrilla attacks.

These security guarantees were confirmed by the authorities during a meeting with the 13 multinationals currently carrying out oil exploration and exploitation in the country.

Mines and Energy Minister Luis Ernesto Mejia said the strengthening of the Uribe administration's security policy has to include the collaboration of the public, in denouncing the actions of illegal armed groups against the energy infrastructure.
