President Gloria Arroyo gave in to the pressure of the Catholic Church as she announced her campaign for a natural family planning programme nationwide yesterday.

"My population policy is based on Christian formation and the constitution. It may be defined through four basic principles, namely, responsible parenthood, respect for life, birth spacing, and informed choice," Arroyo said in her regular radio programme.

"My administration promises to support the values and principles that promote the integrity of Christian family life," Arroyo said as she explained her decision to be less controversial …
