Think back 10 years to what you were earning then. Now not all of you would have had a 10% increase in your salaries each year, but even at 5% that would mean that, over 10 years, your salary has increased quite dramatically - in line, or not, with the cost of living. That is except for one particular group of media people - the freelance writers! Ten years ago they were being paid between R1 and R1.50 a word for their efforts. Today, the publishing houses are still trying to get away with the same rates...
