The government has launched a text hotline in Saudi Arabia as part of its contingency plan to assure the safety of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) as the United States-led war of terror looms. The Labor department said the WelfareNet SMS (short message service) Hotline was launched last week in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia by the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO). "The POLO hatched the hotline in response to the need to quickly establish an accurate and comprehensive database of OFWs in the Kingdom, where 950,000 of the estimated 1.5 million Filipinos in the Middle East work and reside," Labor and Employment Secretary Patricia …
