Taipei, Feb. 7, 2003 (CENS)--The New Taiwan dollar yesterday moved down NT$0.031 to close at NT$34.734 against the U.S. dollar on strong selling by importers, dealers said

The N.T. dollar opened at NT$34.790 against the greenback and was traded between NT$34.728 and NT$34.795 during the session

Total turnover at the Taipei Foreign Exchange amounted to US$497 million, up from US$328 million in the previous session. Although strong demand for the U.S. currency by firms in Taiwan was expected after the Chinese New Year, traders said gains in the U.S. dollar were muted by war fears
