(SGT-HCMC) International and domestic tourist arrivals are predicted to beat the 2003 targets set by the tourism authority given that many festive events will be organized this year and Vietnam has been recognized as a safe destination for tourists.

The targets for this year set by the Vietnam National Administration for Tourism put international tourist arrivals at 2.8 million and domestic tourist arrivals at some 14 million. Local tour operators, however, say these targets are modest as the corresponding figures in 2002 were 2.6 million and 13 million.
