Statesman News Service MUMBAI, Jan. 30. - Mr Bal Thackeray's son, Mr Udhav Thackeray, today became executive president - a newly created post - of the Shiv Sena. And the move has apparently sidelined the Sena chief's nephew, Mr Raj Thackeray.
Demands for Mr Udhav Thackeray's elevation in the party had been gaining ground ever since the Sena-BJP alliance's thumping victory in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections. At that time, Mr Bal Thackeray gave his son the freedom to select candidates of his choice ignoring certain claims of his nephew. This had apparently created a sort of rift between the son and nephew.
