UK small caps remain up at midday, continuing gains; Isotron confirms bid offer.

LONDON (AFX) - UK small caps climbed higher at midday, adding to yesterday's strong session, boosted by positivity among mining stocks and news of a bid approach for Isotron, dealers said.

At lunchtime, the FTSE Small Cap index was 5.8 points firmer at 3,642, just shy of a day's high of 5,643.1, while the FTSE 100 was 24.4 points to the better at 6,206.9.

Among the smaller companies, Isotron was a favourite, racing 64-1/2 pence to 749-1/2, after it said it had received an unsolicited bid approach which could lead to an offer being made for the company.
