With a sharp decline in capital expenditures by customers of voice aver packet (VoP) equipment, VoP chipsets stumbled hard in 2002. Both overall port shipments and average selling prices (ASPs) steeply declined, causing a deep drop in expected revenue for the industry relative to 2001.
However, the VoP IC market will recover from the 2002 downturn and experience "steady and respectable growth," according to high tech market research firm In-Stat/MDR, Scottsdale, AZ.
