Tokyo, Feb. 3 (Jiji Press)--The Japanese government's general-account tax revenue in December fell 12.2 pct from a year before to 2,278,344 million yen, down for the 16th straight month, the Finance Ministry said Monday.

Individual income tax revenue dropped 21.5 pct to 977,956 million yen on declining revenues from interest tax on matured postal time savings, said an official of the ministry's Tax Bureau.

Such interest tax income fell about 200 billion yen in December and is likely to drop about 2 trillion yen in fiscal 2002 to March, he said.
