When M1 launched its ?first 12 seconds free? policy several years ago, I had a friend who would try to end his mobile-to-mobile conversation with me (read M1 user) within the ?free? timeframe.
Then when StarHub came up with its ?free incoming? calls, this friend switched operators and stopped his nasty habit. But he developed something worse?he would call me and end his call within two rings. That way, I would call him back and he would take full advantage of his ?free incoming calls?.
The logic, he opines, is that since I would have to pay either way, why not help him save some money.
Then there are the times when I call someone on a mobile phone and that person asks me to call on his landline phone. A subconscious mental straw poll tells me that the exception to this behaviour are StarHub customers (since they don?t pay for receiving calls).
So I told myself I should move along with the Joneses and switch to a StarHub line. But I have had this number for so long, I do not want to part with it for fear of losing touch with old friends.
