Security tops Asian CIO spending
IDC?s annual Continum survey showed that security spending topped the CIO shopping list in the Asia-Pacific for 2002. More than half the region?s CIOs continued to pump fresh investments into security solutions during 2002, making this the top investment priority across 12 countries in the Asia-Pacific (excluding Japan). IDC?s survey of 2,850 enterprises reveals that 56% of organisations in 2002 spent fresh dollars on security solutions, ahead of the 45% who invested in storage solutions and 34% that spent on ERM solutions.
Just in Dec 2002, IDC?s annual user survey revealed that Asian enterprises spend between 8?14% of their total budgets on IT security. According to IDC, this percentage is expected to increase to 9?17% in 2003, with the biggest increases in Korea, India and Greater China.
