SEOUL, Feb 4 Asia Pulse - South Korea's crude oil imports fell last year, while imports of petroleum products expanded, the Korea Petroleum Association and the Korea National Oil Corp. said Tuesday.
The nation purchased some 790 million barrels of crude oil from overseas during all of 2002, down 8 per cent from 859 million in 2001 and spent US$18.45 billion in importing it, marking an 8.9 per cent on-year slide.
Imports of petroleum products including gasoline and diesel oil reached 228 million barrels during last year, a 10.4 per cent upswing from the preceding year. Those goods cost US$5.29 billion, up 4.6 per cent from 2001.
