LEGAZPI CITY, Feb 4 Asia Pulse - A total rehabilitation and expansion of Manila-Southern Bicol Railways is expected in full in the first quarter of 2003, announced Rep. Jose Solis (2nd district Sorosogon).
Solis told the members of the Bicol Regional Development Council (RDC) in a joint meeting with the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) held at Albay Capitol today.
The solon said President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has already ordered the total clean up of railroads from metro Manila to Bicol, this includes the phase out of all squatters along the PNR rail roads.
"We have to implement the project as soon as possible," Solis said.
In an interview he said that the Philippine government and China have signed the agreement. "The agreement allows the China as private investor to enter into a Built Operate Transfer (BOT) scheme."
