Pennington School, a public "traditional" school, has racked an impressive list of achievements in three years, including recognition as a county school of excellence and the highest Standards of Learning scores in Prince William County. Despite those achievements, 21 of 72 students did not to return to Pennington for seventh grade this year, lowering seventh-grade enrollment to only 51 students and prompting fears that the specialty school may cut grades 6, 7 and 8 entirely.
