The Penguins' third-round (86th overall) pick in 1999, Caron played his first professional season last year for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL, where he was 14-22-8 with a 3.12 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage. Caron was expected to play in the AHL again this season, but when Johan Hedberg was knocked out of the lineup with a broken collarbone, Caron was called up.
STRENGTHS: Caron is a classic butterfly goalie who has excellent reflexes.
