A new type of training has begun at the Navy Supply Corps School. Recently, a Pensacola, Fla., company was awarded a CNET-funded contract to assist in modernization and training for the Basic Qualification Course (BQC) at the Navy Supply Corps School. The company, Intelligent Decision Systems Inc. (IDSI), received instructor input and guidance to create a comprehensive, computer simulated, end of course, three-day exercise. The exercise, named "Sea Trials," was designed to simulate three days at sea as a Supply Division Officer and was delivered to Navy Supply Corps School in April 2002.
The 3rd Battalion 02 was the pilot class for the new Supply Corps Sea Trials Exercise in September 2002. Students were grouped in teams of three, carrying out the roles of a shipboard disbursing officer, sales officer, and food service officer. Several routine daily tasks had to be accomplished and graded to successfully complete the exercise.
