Clearing Teams Work Round The Clock To Keep Roads Free Of Snow.

Road-clearing operators have been working round-the-clock in an attempt to keep roads in the North-east open.

Trunk road contractor BEAR Scotland said all of its resources were being utilised in a 24-hour operation to try and clear the snow. This included 72 ploughs and gritters and eight snowploughs.

Ten gritters and two snowblowers were working throughout the day yesterday treating the A90 and a similar number on parts of the A96 - the two worst-affected roads.

A spokesman said teams had been working non-stop in "awful conditions" since around 5.30pm on Wednesday.
