Pakistanis marked a day of protest against a US-led attack on Iraq with rallies in major cities but witnesses said turnout was low despite some 40 political and religious groups joining the nationwide display.
The largest rally attracted about 1,000 people and was held in Multan, a city in central Punjab province.
Some 800 men and women marched in the capital Islamabad shouting slogans such as "Death to America."
Also in Islamabad, some 250 people gathered outside a mosque after the congregation burned an effigy of US President George Bush.
Smaller crowds attended rallies in other cities.
Police said Friday there were no reports of violence.
