Three rockets were fired near a base housing international peacekeeping soldiers on the outskirts of Kabul but there were no casualties, a western military source in the Afghan capital said.
The rockets, fired shortly before 11:00 pm Friday (1830 GMT) landed within 500 metres of one the main bases for troops serving with the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), the source said Saturday.
The incident, the first rocket attack on the capital in almost two months, comes in a week of heightened violence against foreign military and organisations in the country.
Some 16 people were killed in an explosion near the southern city of Kandahar on Friday which local authorities say may have been caused by a landmine planted by extremists.
