BRATISLAVA, Jan 31 (CTK) - Slovak railway workers have started a strike at 11 p.m. today for an indefinite period of time in protest against austerity measures on the railways, head of the strike committee Jozef Schmidt told reporters.
Union members want to paralyse both passenger and freight transport all over the country in protest against the approved abolition of 25 regional railway lines and reduction of some 200 rail connections.
A similar strike was held on Wednesday, when railway transport all over Slovakia came to a halt for six hours.
