Former Bangladesh PM faces graft charge over Russian defence deal.

Bangladesh's former prime minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed and six other officials were charged with corruption in the purchase of Russian-made MiG-29 fighters.

The government Bureau of Anti-Corruption (BAC) formally submitted the charge sheet accusing the seven of colluding to purchase eight MiG-29 fighter bombers from Russia in 1999, over alleged defence objections.

The purchase caused a loss of seven billion taka (123 million USD) to the national exchequer, a BAC official said.
