PEOPLE'S DAILY
- Chinese Communist Party and government leaders celebrated the New Year of 2003 with a party organized by the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) in Beijing on Wednesday.
- China's tax revenue was expected to reach 1.7 trillion yuan (205 billion US dollars) last year, an increase of 200 billion yuan (24 billion US dollars) from 2001, said Director Jin Renqing of the State Administration of Taxation on Wednesday.

- Vice-President Hu Jintao addressed the party held by the CPPCC National Committee, extending cordial greetings to 11 non-Communist parties, mass organizations, people of all social strata, compatriots in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, as well as overseas Chinese and foreign friends who supported the China's modernization drive.
- Premier Zhu Rongji and his counterpart of Antigua and Barbuda exchanged other messages of congratulation on Wednesday to mark the 20th anniversary of the forging of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
