JAKARTA, Jan 2 Asia Pulse - Chief Economic Minister Dorodjatun Kuntjoro-Jakti said Indonesia will remain a member of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) despite a decision on the expiry of a contract with the Fund.
"Don't misconstrue the decision. Our membership in the Fund will remain unchanged," he said following the announcement of a fuel oil price hike yesterday.
Indonesia will remain an IMF member after 2003, he said.
"I think we are the oldest IMF member among the developing nations," he said.
On the working program with the IMF, he said both sides would soon hold talks on how to implement it in 2003.
He expressed hope the IMF would soon disburse a US$5 billion loan it had pledged to Indonesia.
