BATAM, Jan 2 Asia Pulse - Indonesia's Batam Authority licenced 80 foreign investment projects worth US$225.77 million in the January-November period of 2002, up 38 per cent from the same period in the prior year.
The authority said that most of the investment came from Singapore, followed by Korea, Taiwan, the United States, Japan, Hong Kong, the British Virgin Islands, Australia, Britain, Sweden, China, Malaysia and Mauritius.
Most of the foreign investors were engaged in electronic, shipping, hotel, construction and service industries, employing more than 2,000 workers.
