MELBOURNE, Jan 2 Asia Pulse - An international poker tournament could be interrupted if talks between Melbourne's Crown Casino management and a union over pay and working conditions fail this morning.
If the 11am (AEDT) meeting breaks down, members of the Liquor, Hospitality and Miscellaneous Workers Union (LHMWU) will today wear protest stickers such as "Make us a winner Crown", "We are not Crowded House Security" and "We are not the Deer Park Hotel".
The union, which represents about 2,700 staff, would also hold legally protected stopwork meetings tomorrow.
LHMWU spokeswoman Connie De Nino said the industrial action could disrupt the 2003 Australasian Poker Championship, which begins today and has attracted players from all over the world.
"We've got members who deal poker, so potentially it could impact on that," Ms De Nino said.
